Project Mediation
Successful projects require teamwork. Teamwork in its turn requires intense interaction between (internal and/or external) project stakeholders with their own responsibilities. These responsibilities align with the overall goal of the project but do not necessarily align amongst the project stakeholders themselves.
If not addressed in time, this often leads to a project-disruptive dispute.
A ‘mediating’ project manager utilises mediation skills in order to manage the project to the mutual benefit of all project stakeholders. He/she facilitates effective communication within the project arena and mediates (potential) conflicts. The de-escalating effect of mediation prevents small issues from growing large and promotes positive human interaction/achievements amongst the team.
Also, once in conflict is mediation is the only durable solution.
The benefits of mediation in projects in short:
-
-Stress: before conflicts start to take their toll, they can be defused
-
-Creativity: with personal constraints out of the way, teamwork flourishes
-
-Time: no time is (invisibly) wasted due to submerged conflict and/or boycott
-
-Costs: no hidden costs due to preserving human capital and their interactions
Project mediation from Act Nouveau can be added to your project, integrated with your management approach or applied once your project is stagnated in conflict.
